Shocked star Morrissey walked off stage two songs into a gig at Liverpool's Echo Arena tonight after being hit on the head by a drink thrown from the crowd.

The former Smiths frontman was just two songs into the gig at when he was struck.

He was struck just moments after shaking hands with members of the audience by what appeared to be a half full plastic glass.

The attack happened after he had opened with This Charming Man and was playing second song Black Cloud.

THE GONG SHOW

by Jerry Portwood, 23 October 2007 (22 Oct show reviewed)

Morrissey fans, stop me if you’ve heard this one before, but our beloved Moz is headed for Vegas. At least, that’s the idea I couldn’t shake as I watched him on stage last night at Hammerstein Ballroom. As he whipped his microphone cord, pulled his hands through his pompadour and sweat through his electric blue slacks and blue silk shirt (with just enough chest exposed), it was images ...

It would be easy for Morrissey to be one of those singers who seal themselves and their music away in an artistic time capsule, emerging every so often to relive the glory years and rake in some dough by trotting out exactly what fans want to hear.

Truth be told, in the late '90s, that seemed exactly ...

There’s something about a great voice that just won’t quit. Some of
