Johnny Marr honored at Trinity College in Dublin
The Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr has been honoured by two universities in as many weeks.
Marr was honoured at a ceremony at Trinity College in Dublin where, after speaking onstage, he was made an Honorary Patron of the Trinity College Philosophical Society.
Marr follows the likes of Samuel Beckett, Bram Stoker, Oscar Wilde, Salman Rushdie and Al Pacino to the honour which rewards "individuals who have excelled in public life and made a worthy contribution to society".
Closer to home, the guitarist - who now plays with Modest Mouse - was made Professor Of Music at Salford University.
He will attend an induction ceremony tomorrow (October 17).
