Re: Top 10 Mightiest Guitar Gods
I dunno...I have serious issues with that list.
First of all, I have always had a problem with Johnny Thunders being cast as Punk. Nothing he EVER played was "Punk." He was a pure Blues guitarist in every way, shape, and form. Everything he played from the Dolls until his death was Blues! Maybe he is on that list because of his attitude and his addictions...but I wouldn't put him there.
The Rock Lobster dude?!
Where is James Williamson?! Wayne Kramer?! Sonic Smith?!

I did think that... I know he was regarded generally as Punk, but wasnt really ever a punk... definitely more blues!
I think the likes of Kramer and Smith should definitely be on it though!

Well, the definition of 'punk' is again very hard to define. Was anything that Ricky Wilson or Tom Verlaine ever played 'punk'?
For me the defintion of THE punk-guitarist is Johnny Ramone. Not the best, but the most 'punk' (simple, effective barre chords) in style.
